Surely you remember the time in your early twenties when a friend with impeccable musical tastes asked if you knew about an incredible band you’d never heard of—say, Pavement—and listening to them for the first time changed your life? Like, if you had only known about them when you were 13, their entire discography would have been chronologically ordered on your shelf, rare imports and all. Not only was the band different than what you typically threw in your boom box, but they were so…good. So it is with “Spaced,” one of the funniest TV shows you’ve never heard of.
Written by and starring Jessica Stevenson as Daisy and Simon Pegg (of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and, um, Paul fame) as Tim, the show concerns two down-and-out Brits who have both recently been dumped and, in desperate need of a new apartment, meet in the want ads and decide to move in together. Their neighbors include a perpetually sloshed but kindhearted landlady and a tortured conceptual artist. Tim’s best friend, an army-obsessed teddy bear of a man, and Daisy’s, a self-involved fashionista, round out the core cast.
If you haven’t seen this, it’s a must.
YES OH GOD THIS SHOW
I’m ashamed to admit the friend telling me about Pavement thing happened in my 20s… because I’m still just 23.
Waas just talking about this on Friday-watch it!
